The neuro-oncology laboratory at the University of Chicago is dedicated to understanding the basic mechansims of brain cancer initiation, growth, and spread, with a focus on developing translational therapies and conducting clinical trials.  Our missions consists of:

Advancing the Science of Neuro-Oncology: We are a group of physicians, scientists, and students who aim to make
a difference in the life of every brain cancer patient.  To do so, we strive to uncover key pathways in the pathogensis
of brain tumors and design rational therapies based on hypothesis-driven, cutting-edge research.

Promoting Excellence in Our Daily Work: Our goal is to disover new therapies within a research environment that
fosters a dynamic, exciting, and challenging environment.  We aim to excel each day in everything that we do and to
serve as an example of a translational laboratory focused on outstanding and high quality research.

Supporting the Development of Young Scientists: We recognize that an important part of our mission is to foster and
encourage the development of young scientists.  Our ability to inspire others provides a legacy for our work and makes a
lasting impact on the individulas who will hopefully one day surpass our skills and abilities.

Enhancing Professional Development: We promote an open and people-oriented scientific environment.  We
encourage questions and respect the rights of our colleagues to challenge our vision.  We strive to create an environment
in which individuality and diversity represent our best assets.  We participate in continued education and professional
development as we recognize that we are all students at heart.

Ethical Conduct of Research: We value and treasure the scientific process and acknowledge that it fully depends on
the highest standards of ethical conduct.  We embrace honesty and full disclosure of our work as we hope to serve as
         an example to our colleagues.
