Alan is a graduate student under the Committee on Cancer Biology at the University of Chicago. He graduated with honors from Tulane University in 2011 with a degree in Biological Chemistry. There, his undergraduate research was focused on the role of Mre11 in telomere homeostasis. Alan's primary interests in the Lesniak lab is in the area of glioma tumor immunology. Of particular interest is how the developing tumor suppresses the T cell response through regulatory T cell activity and the mechanisms that underlie the interaction between regulatory T cells, gliomas, and the immune system. Alan is pursuing a PhD with the goal of continuing into academic research.
